Sustainable Art: Changing How We CREATE
How Jiiri’s ‘Ecopath’ Began
I was freshly home from a Convention in 2018 and stared down at a mountain of plastic bags, tags, wrappers, and tapes… all trash formed from a long weekend in a small town just north of Atlanta. It made me wonder how many other Artists were facing the same issue. Just how many bags of waste will end up in the dump from ONE weekend of shopping in ONE town?
It was pretty mind-boggling to think about…
I knew as both an Artist and Small Business Owner, especially one inspired regularly by Nature, that I needed to choose eco-friendlier options when creating my art, packaging, and products. My goal is to create more mindfulness of where and how my work takes up space once it leaves the Studio.
What’s the point in making something beautiful if it only harms the world that inspired its creation in the first place?
And that’s how the journey to sourcing and creating sustainable art resources began — Ecopath was born!
